Roadrunner United

Post by Reverend Red on Fri Jan 30, 2009 8:54 pm

Roadrunner Records brought together 25 years of metal music history by collecting their numerous star artists (57 in total, I hear) to perform a CD and a concert's full of songs from their extensive journey.

The CD contains 18 songs with mixed line-ups to produce a head-bangingly outrageous album which makes evident the reason for the company's success over time. The material is mixed and performed perfectly by some of the most renowned professionals of the industry. It's a great listen, but what I'm really excited about is their gargantuan concert which was recorded on the DVD called... The Concert. It seems fucking amazing, and I'm going to grab it next Tuesday and do a proper review of it. If you get a chance to listen to the album or see the DVD - do so. The line-ups can be found HERE

Don't tell me that doesn't sound damn cool.

You're buying an album with King Diamond singing. What's gotten into you, Red?

King Diamond has an extremely versatile voice. In addition to that, I've never heard him sing anything wrong per se. It's just that King Diamond as a band never really did it for me, otherwise I can rispek their career and influence on metal music.

Yeah, I'm really just trying to defend the undefendable.

If you'd like! You have a decent sound set as well, I read a couple of reviews that said the music is awesome and well recorded, so that should really be a lot of fun. Though I've feeling we could skip a couple of the songs... I can imagine you have an idea what I'm talking about.

The Dagger is my tentative favourite after reading the artists of all songs. We could definitely give it a try, if I don't like it we can just get back to Mario Kart, beer and sauna.

I concur. This has a lot of fail in it:
Roadrunner United wrote: Type O Negative's "Black No. 1"

* Ville Valo (HIM (Finnish band)) - Vocals
* Andreas Kisser (Sepultura) - Lead Guitar
* Dino Cazares (Divine Heresy, Asesino, ex-Fear Factory, ex-Brujeria) - Vocals, Rhythm Guitar
* Nadja Peulen (Coal Chamber) - Bass
* Joey Jordison (Slipknot) - Drums
* Rob Caggiano (Anthrax) - Keyboards

I also hear Ville Valo was incredibly drunk during the shooting, but eventually pulled himself together. I think it might be worth hearing that.

He is not a bad singer per se, you can hear that when he sings actual songs, not HIM crap. Perhaps he didn't mess the song up quite as bad as we assume.

Well, it IS a Type O Negative song... what's the worst that could happen?
